After the rain, Theo saw worms all over the sidewalk. The sun was getting hot. He remembered that worms need cool, wet dirt to live.

Theo did not want the worms to dry out. He picked them up gently, one by one. He carried them to the soft garden by the fence.

He set each worm on the dark, damp soil. They wiggled down out of sight. Theo knew the worms were safe now, back in their cool home.
