Two-Step Stories
Big problems are just small steps stacked up — take them one at a time and you can solve anything.
The idea
A two-step problem needs two moves. Solve the first part, then use that answer to solve the second part.
Think it through
Nadia had 20 seeds. She planted 8 of them, then her friend gave her 5 more. How many seeds does she have now?
A class had 6 boxes with 4 markers in each box. Then 3 markers were used up. How many markers are left?
Leo saved 7 dollars each week for 2 weeks. Then he spent 6 dollars on a toy. How much money does he have left?
A bakery made 16 muffins in the morning and 9 in the afternoon. They sold 15. How many muffins are left?
Work all the way through to finish. 3 of 4 right and it’s hers.
