Fair-Share Stories
Sharing things equally is a kindness — and it is also multiplication and division.
The idea
When you split things into equal groups, count how many are in each group or how many groups there are. Equal groups are the key idea.
Think it through
Maya has 12 crayons to share equally among 3 friends. How many crayons does each friend get?
There are 15 cookies placed onto plates with 5 cookies on each plate. How many plates are there?
A team has 4 rows of chairs with 5 chairs in each row. How many chairs are there in all?
Theo has 18 stickers to share equally between 2 books. How many stickers go in each book?
Work all the way through to finish. 3 of 4 right and it’s hers.
