Read the story, find what you know, and decide if you join numbers together (add) or take some away (subtract).

Think it through

Leo built 8 paper boats on Monday and 7 more on Tuesday. How many boats did he build in all?

There were 14 apples in a basket. A family ate 6 of them. How many apples are left?

Priya read 9 pages before dinner and 8 pages after dinner. How many pages did she read?

A garden had 20 flowers. A storm knocked over 5 of them. How many flowers are still standing?
